🅿️ SpotOn

NYC parking, decoded. Meters, rules, and your car — in one place.

Teal dots = active meters. Grey = inactive. Tap any dot (or list item) for hours and the ParkNYC pay code. Meter data is live from NYC Open Data — it shows where meters are, not whether a spot is free right now. No app honestly knows that yet.

Nearby metersTap “Meters near me” to load

Nothing loaded yet. Allow location, or move the map to where you are and tap “Meters near map center”.

🚗 Where's my car?

No car saved yet. On the Map tab, tap “I parked here” when you leave the car.

How it works

Your parked spot is saved on this device only — nothing leaves your phone. It survives closing the app, but not clearing Safari website data.

⏱ Meter timer

--:--

No timer running.

Honest note: a web timer can't buzz you if the browser is fully closed. For a can't-miss ticket saver, also set your phone alarm for the same time. A future native version can send real push alerts.

🪧 Street parking, translated

Metered parking — pay at the meter or with the ParkNYC app using the zone code on the meter. The meter's hours (e.g. “2HR Mon–Sat 8am–7pm”) are the hours you must pay. Outside those hours the meter usually doesn't apply — but the sign still rules.

Alternate Side Parking (ASP) — on posted days, you must move your car during the posted window so street cleaners can pass. ASP is suspended on many holidays and during snow emergencies — the city publishes a suspension calendar.

No Standing vs No Parking vs No Stopping — No Stopping: don't stop at all. No Standing: you can stop briefly to drop off/pick up, but not wait. No Parking: you can stop briefly to drop off/pick up, but can't leave the car.

Sundays — many meters don't run on Sundays, and ASP often doesn't apply — but only where signs say so. Some busy areas charge 7 days.

Fire hydrants — never park within 15 feet of a hydrant. Ever. It's the most ticketed, towed, and expensive mistake in the city.

⚠️ Always trust the posted sign over this app. Signs change for construction, events and emergencies, and the sign on the pole is what the ticket is written against.

About this app

SpotOn 1.0.0 — NYC first. Meter locations, hours and pay codes are live from NYC Open Data (dataset: Parking Meters Locations and Status). Garage prices change constantly, so this version points you to real meters and your own car instead of guessing prices. More cities, live garage data and community “spot just opened” reports come after real users do.
